Península Valdes

With its 3800 square kilometres of surface, Peninsula Valdes is one of the biggest geographic curiosities of Patagonia.
This former sea bottom land, located half way between the Equator and Antarctica, conforms a true natural zoo were mankind and its influence must exercise a great deal of respect and harmony with nature.
Along its varied coasts of open sea and gulfs, many birds and sea fauna find shelter, giving us the opportunity to witness, along the different stages of the year, the development of colonies such as sea lions, elephant seals and penguins among others. Its enormous gulfs –resembling big hugs of land to the sea- provide very calm waters, ideal for the mating and breeding of big cetaceous like the Southern Right Whale.
Along the day we will visit the interpretation centre in Ameghino’s Isthmus, the village of Puerto Piramides (only human settlement in Peninsula) and the most interesting spots according to the time of the year.
The typical land fauna from Patagonia will be easy to identify from inside the vehicle, crossing by Guanacos, Rheas, Maras, foxes, hares and maybe even an armadillo along our way.
Dressed in a comfortable outfit, with your binoculars and cameras ready, you are all set and ready to enjoy and share, for a whole day, the secrets of the Patagonian desert. |
